Okay I just tried it running a jumper from the positive on the meter and down to C and it worked fine so for know I am just going to run it like that. So you guys are saying it doesn't draw enough to affect the battery correct.

It's drawing all the time anyway... just the actual display would be Off or On by a switch. LED's usually take very minimal current draw.

2 watts is 55mA at 36V.

badbowtie - That meter is junk and you will have completely dead batteries by the time you get to the halfway point on the bars.
A full charge on a 36v cart is 38.2v and a 10% charge is 34.5v.
The meter you are getting states from the ebay site:
Quote:
Roltage Range:
36.98 volts full; 31.14 volts empty
Sorry for the bad news but I wouldn't even install this one.

I wish I would of asked before I bought it but after rusing the golf cart tonight when it got down to two and they were flashing it was getting really week would not pull any hill so we will see how it works for a couple of camping trips then go from there. When it is down to two again I will use volt meter and check the batteries and see what happens.

FYI, you shouldn't be running the batteries down to where you can really feel the loss of power. This constitutes a deep discharge of the battery pack. If you have a very old or weak pack this can happen quickly. In that case it may be time for new batteries. Generally a 50% discharge is max = 36.1 volts.... and fully charged & settled (12hours) pack will read 38.2

I hope this helps
