Default hot battery

I have a 2006 club car precedent that the battery charge only last about 30 minutes. I just checked the battery cables and they were a little dirty at the connectors so I cleaned them. I also noticed that while it is charging, the top side of the back battery on the passenger side gets extremely hot. I also have the battery light coming on for about 10 seconds and then going off and then coming back on again. Any ideas as to what is going on.

how old are the batteries? it sounds like its time to test and load test them ......if your only getting 30 min. of runtime than they might just be telling you something................................

The batteries were in the cart when I bought it in June. I was told that they were new reconditioned batteries....never been in a cart before but that the connection post were broken. Screws have been put in the top of the connection points to secure the cables.

Sounds like they were repositioned batteries from one cart to the next.
