Default Rearend ?? Help!!!

Well my 81 g1 finally broke.. The rearend does nothing .clutches work great but just spin.. The wheels spin freely no drag at all but there was no noise ether no bang no nothing just stopped.. Is there a keeper key that may have broke. or something else to check..THANKS!!

I had the same problem once with my g1. Figured it was something in gear box. After removing whole rear end and finding nothing wrong I put it all back together and discovered it was a broken axle. I suggest checking that first before removing transmission. Most likely passenger side. Easy to do. Remove wheel and there is 4 or 5 bolts to remove the hub. Should pull right out axle and all.

I couldn't find an after market axle anywhere. I had a guy weld mine. I was somewhat skeptical about it but its held up so far. If u know where an old g1 is for parts and that's the way to go
