G14 runs well only with choke
Happy New Year to everyone!!
My 95 G14 runs well only with the choke pulled out a bit. Doesn't have to be all the way, just half-way maybe. Starts up just fine. The guy I bought it from put a new carb on it and it looks like he did a good job. Any ideas before I jump in head-first? Thanks. |

Re: G14 runs well only with choke
You should check the airbox closely for any leaks or bad fit together, that will cause this problem and is most common. If it has a spacer behind the carb they can crack and cause a intake leak and do this because people like to tighten them up to hard. May be able to spray the spacer with carb clean or wd40 and note a difference in running. If all that checks out then dirt in the carb maybe or pump problems like cracked hoses. But you can remove the carb fuel hose and spin it on the starter and fuel should pulse out in decent quantity to check the pump. The new carb could have been jetted wrong.
