Re: engine swap
Welcome! You can,but why?Its' a small displacement 2-stroke(250cc),the G16 has a 301cc,4-stroke,with about 4 more hp.and alot more torque.Why not do a clone or V-Twin swap?Hope this helps

Re: engine swap
14hp to 23hp,are the common ones,It depends on your finances, and what you want the cart to do as far as speed and overall power. For a neighborhood cruiser a 14-18hp is fine, for off-road,hunting,etc..it all depends on the terrain, extras' you have on the cart,etc..More weight and hills, larger engine. You can buy swap-kits for a bolt-in,or build your own mounts(G16 is very simple to do yourself,if you have average fabrication-skills).The Clones are very popular single-cylinder conversions, and are very low-priced to buy new, compared to a Twin.More input on your plans and skills would help.

Re: engine swap
fabrication as long as it's not major isn't a problem the cart gets used mostly around the the farm and the stock engine has more then adequate

Re: engine swap
The clone is probably the cheapest overall, unless you find a good used Twin. You can buy a clutch-adapter thru Cart Parts Plus(site-sponsor),and use your stock clutch on the new motor(anything with a 1" crank-shaft).The mount is fairly simple to build, and the motor will fit without a lift-kit.

Re: engine swap
Golf-Carts use a tapered crankshaft,Regular engines have a straight crankshaft.You need to either buy the adapter($50),or a new clutch with a 1"-bore($275-$400).
