Default Bought my first one.

New to the forum and there is a ton of great info here. Recently purchased a 2000 gas Yamaha cart. Love it the guy who I bought it from is a winter visitor here in Sun City Az. He decided to buy a new electric cart and I picked up his used one for a less than they are going for around here. He told me there was no work done to the cart but I can get to 32mph with me and the wife driving down the street. Does this make sense or is there work done to it. I know there was a spring added to the govenor but that was all. I will try to post some pics soon..

First off Welcome to the addiction and Welcome to BGW, let the weight loss program for your wallet begin.

That sounds awful fast for a bone stock cart. Most I've read for stock top speeds at most is around 18 to 22mph. That added spring might be the culprit. I don't know much about cart engines, but I do know some about small engines, and that if you play with the govenor too much it'll blow. Does it sound topped out as in rpms?

Good pick up! Everyone has an opinion so, I think the G2 and the G9 are the best! I think 32 mph is a bit of a drastic shot at speed for a stock cart. Governor cranked with stock tire size... Maybe 20 mph

Awe come on! The G1 is the best, and I can go 74mph with me and three of my overweight buddies with 12" tires and no mods. LOL

I had a mostly stock G1 over 40mph but it was a speedo on a motorcycle so not sure how accurate it was. Yeah I worked on it a lot, but stock engine/exhaust/carb/tires and all.

Welcome to BGW. It is likely it has high speed gears in it if you get that kind of speed out of a stock cart with stock tires. They will add around 10mph, I did 28gps in an old 92 club car hitting the limiter (governor adjusted up until it hit limiter) otherwise bone stock. It was a sleeper lol. Some carts have limiters some don't.

I have noticed Plowmans can get some crazy speed out of new-ish yamaha not sure what he is doing. Most 4 cycle carts only hit 20 give or take with stock gears and tires and either 22" tires (& lift to fit them) or HS gears will put them 10mph faster or so.

My stock G1 with 22" tires and gov cranked got 24 mph... It took 2 blocks to get there also. Motorcycle speedos are geared taller
