Fuel filter doesn't stay full
I noticed the other day that the fuel filter isn't staying full. I had thought it should be to know ther is a good suction. The cart had a backfire problem(throttle cable wasn't closing valve all the way) and i'm wondering if this would cause a tear in the pump diaphragm wich in turn would not allow the filter to fill up? I believe this might be the cause of loss of power on an inlcine as the clutches seem to be moving properly.
NY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. THANKS |

Re: Fuel filter doesn't stay full
1/2 full fuel filter is perfectly normal and does not adversely effect motor operation

Re: Fuel filter doesn't stay full
Check the vacuum tube from the fuel pump to the crankcase. The filter should stay about 1/2 full

Re: Fuel filter doesn't stay full
Might need to check your Oil also , If it seems over Full & mixed with Gas then you may have the same trouble I had .
Fuel filter would empty completely out with the Engine Off & cart would Backfire while running , Also crankcase was Full of Gas ,Found out the Float was sticking so I put a new Carb. plus a new Fuel Pump on - Results was no more Problem. |

Re: Fuel filter doesn't stay full
this also kinda had me wondering with my cart but after learning much info here it stills stays almost empty looking with new fiter and new pulse fuel pump.and engine..but was running great so it must be getting fuel properly
someone installed a boat primer bulb on mine and i learned to never touch it,as i tried to use it to fill my filter one time, then realized it just blew the gas past the needle and seat and wasted the gas..and not good for a 4 stroke if it gets in there with the oil very much.. |

Re: Fuel filter doesn't stay full
It's normal. On some semi trucks there are clear fuel filters, when these filters are new there will be nearly no fuel in them. As the filter gets dirty it will slowly fill more of the housing using more of the filter media. This would lead me to believe that if your filter is full it is time to replace it.
