DF Post - Red & Green Wires?
Hello Everyone,
I just recently purchased my first cart. It is a 1993 Ez-Go Marathon. I got it with a blown up engine. I purchased a reman from my local Ez-Go dealer this weekend and finally got everything wrapped up this morning with installing it. However, after doing some riding around, the battery suddenly died and would no longer turn the engine over anymore. I believe everything is wired correctly except for the DF terminal on the starter/generator. All the wiring diagrams I have found only show the green wire, but mine has the green as well as a red. I found a diagram that said something about the early productions may have both but doesn't really explain more than that. Anyone have any idea if that would effect charging at all? Thank You |

Re: DF Post - Red & Green Wires?
The DF is the green wire. In the Voltage Regulator), this is the middle connector (for Hitachi voltage regulators). If you look at your starter, there is also a DF terminal. They should be connected.

Re: DF Post - Red & Green Wires?
Thank you for the diagram, Ive seen that schematic before but not with the testing procedures so that helps. And as far as the DF terminal and the green wire going to the regulator, I have that all correct. The problem is my DF terminal on my starter/generator has both and green AND red wire protruding from the internals.
On the digram 89Marathon posted, if you look at the "Note" at the bottom right, you'll see they kinda talk about it, but I don't understand what the mean by it mates in the harness. |

Re: DF Post - Red & Green Wires?
Did you ever get this resolved? I’m having similar issues. I have tried connecting the red wire to 12 volts and then when I ground the green wire my voltage goes from 12.3V to 11.8V under full throttle... I think it is an issue with my starter generator but I’m not sure.
