Default Results for 2002 DS IQ with speed code 4 & GE high speed magnet

Having recently converted my stock 2002 DS IQ (48v) to LiFePO4 (51.2v 50 Ah), I was experiencing some annoyance bumping up against the RPM limiter of speed code 4. This was not noticeable when I had lead acid batteries. Cruising speed on flat pavement with normal turf tires was 17.5 mph and peak of 19.6 mph, according to the Speedometer app on my phone.

I purchased a high speed magnet for my GE motor from Revolution Golf Carts with hopes for improved top speed and smoother throttle response. (Shout out to TahoeDawgZ71 for fast shipping and including detailed installation instructions.)

The results for my cart were exactly what I hoped for. New cruising speed is 23 mph with a passenger, 24 mph without passenger, and peak of 24.9 mph. Best of all is no more bumping up against a limiter.

Hope my experience can help others contemplating a high speed magnet.

Tell people all the time that the magnet is the way to go and the speed code stuff is just throwing away money.

Yes, but if your controller lets you adjust regen parameters to compensate for speed skewing you can probably make it work. The 1510 IQ controller doesn't give you that option. Excel controllers (eg 1515) might give you that ability, but the parameters are not well documented

An expression I learned recently but seems fitting, 'security through obscurity' for not publicly documenting it.
