Club Car Engine Serial number & rotation

I just picked up a FE290 engine for my 1995 Gas club car, it currently runs counter clock wise, Can't tell what I have Engine Serial number is a FE290DFBS05038712 . Im thinking the new engine is made to run clock wise. Does the generator controls the rotation? Will it hurt the engine to run in a different direction?

My experience has been different as everyone has been very helpful. When you take into account the hundreds of questions (including some that could be easily answered by a Google search or on here) this forum is great. I admit I joined looking for answers, some came, some I searched out and some did not. Either way its all good, I just have to be thankful for any information I get.

No. You can't just spin the engine the other direction and expect it to run.
For one, the camshaft would need to be changed. The cooling vanes on the flywheel would have to be different if you were to move cooling air around the engine in the same direction as originally intended. There are probably some other parts that are specific to engine rotation direction. I

Thanks for the replies .I ran the counter clock wise engine clock wise by switching Gen. wires and that carb blew air out instead of sucking it in.
