Default 96 club car question about ccw an cw what is the easyest

Ok from the start. I bought an 96 ccw clubcart with a blown motor..
And just so happened i put a cw motor out of a 97 in it.. did this before i new anything about the differnece ..

Well It Suck! no guts

Heres the deal

I have the hole 97 rear end and tranny combined unit in the shed .

Can i just swap hole rearend bolt in with no problems ?

Or can i rob the gears out of the one in the shed some how and install in the setup in the cart to make it match?

Ive done alot of search on here but no specfic will it it just bolt in or can the gears be swapped?

Anyways thanks in advance for your help

In 1996 CC in their infinite wisdom decided to go with a CW rear end and thus Kawasaki were prevailed upon to reverse the direction of the supplied motor. Don't ask me why but it was almost certainly the bean counters at Ingersol Rand. I have no other plausible explanation. The CC rear end end is geared lower in reverse than forward hence your "lack of guts". So, the choice is simple; either A, stick with your rig and impress people by driving backwards at amazing velocities or B, swap either the motor or rear end for more conventional fun. They will interchange with minor adjustments btw.

Off the top of your head can you tell me what the minor adj are? The 97 had another plate that went on bottom of the motor an raps around the back of it. Do I need to install that too if I'm to change hole rear ends ? Man I wish I Could just swap gears out of the two rereads I have.

Either axle can be made to work on your cart. The Adjustment will be getting the drive and driven clutches lined up properly. If you go with the CCW axle you will lose (so I'm told) around 5 MPH. Depending on your use with the cart, it can be tweaked to bring the speed back to normal. My set up runs almost 30 mph, you really don't need that much though so you should get back to 15 - 20 easily enough
If you decide to sell either axle i'm in the market for one. Let me know.
