But if you use the stock clutch you may not be able to swap a better clutch in the future.
Reason is you may or will have to cut the shaft down to use a stock clutch.
Once it is cut, I don't think you can put a comet or other clutch on it.
I think this is one reason I haven't started a swap yet, because of this & its $250 for a comet clutch plus a rear driven clutch is under $250.
I have a 90 DS I wanna swap also, I've been slacking as I have so many projects and just picked up a 12 Yamaha that I want to get going stock for now, then dthe club car swap.

You could always just buy a new crankshaft from Vegascarts for $69 to upgrade the clutch later.

If you are just going to do a sort of stock clone and are on a tight budget using the stock clutch with the steel taper adapter is fine provided the stock clutch is in good shape. A while ago we had outlined doing a low budget clone swap using just a few items and the whole budget including the engine was $600.The 2 mounts plus carb, timing key,and clutch adapter from vegascarts come to $303. Areas that might add cost are the belt, exhaust, air cleaner and carb isolator if using the carts fuel pump and gas tank.

I think Skoal82 built several low budget clone swaps using the $169 powerland engine a while back. You might want to read his threads on using base clone engines.
