Default 23 hp vanguard conversation belt issue

Getting my 92 club car put together with cpp 23 hp vanguard with comet clutch and my belt seems to be fairly loose. How do I know how tight or loose this belt should be. Thanks

On most golf carts the drive belts are fairly loose so they don't take off during starting. Although with a Vanguard with key start some can be set up fairly tight. As long as the engagement is not jerky and the cart will shift from forward to neutral to reverse easily then you should be ok. With a big block engine conversion every cart will be set up differently.

Thanks for the response. I checked online and it mentions the finger test, pushing down on belt between clutches and it should go down around 1.5 inches I believe. Mine is closer to 2.25. I reckon I’ll just start it up here in a bit and see what happens

If the belt is excessively loose, loosen the motor mount bolts and slide the motor forward a little if possible. Usually the older carts have slots in the motor cradle so the motor position can be adjusted to properly space the clutches for belt operation.
