Club Car DS 1989 Help
Hey guys, newbie to the forum here. I recently purchased a 1989 Club Car DS gas model. It was off an elderly lady who used it at a campground but it had sat for awhile. Did some cleanup and put a new field filter on. Problem #1 -It came with a sticky gas pedal. The pedal will never fully return to shut the cart down, I have to slightly pull back on the pedal to get it to shut off. Any suggestions on how to address this? Problem #2- It had ran fine for a couple weeks, but went to start it the other day and when I push the pedal it will turn on but it won’t fully fire up. It just spins and won’t go forward or in reverse. I’ve done some looking and watched some YouTube videos, but they all seem to have different Answers. I’m guessing it’s either the solenoid, ignition coil, starter, or carburetor. Anyone ever have this issue and have a suggestion where I should start?

Re: Club Car DS 1989 Help
If it’s spinning over then it’s not the solenoid or starter. Remove the spark plug and hold it against the valve cover bolt. If you’ve got a nice bright spark then it’s not the ignition coil.
Most likely if it’s sat for a while, you need to drain and clean the gas tank. I’d replace the fuel lines and give the carb a cleaning. It should run just fine after that. |
