Re: Putting the Taylor Dunn on a lithium diet
Leaf modules are rated for 240 amp sustained, 540 amp peek discharge.
With a “double pack” you can get 480 amp sustained. It would take a really powerful and heavy cart to need 480 amps sustained. The double pack could handle 1,080 amp peek. That is huge power! |

Re: Putting the Taylor Dunn on a lithium diet
I thought that was how the math should work as well, but I remember when I was going to buy a pack from Nick that he had it rated at 240/500 amp. I’ve never checked it, but when I’m pulling a load across soft ground I would guess it is eating some serious juice.
Oops, forgot to quote ag4ever on this one. |

Izzzy ya lucky bastage , I would have loved to happen upon that deal. I bet you could go 48v easy. No electronics to worry about. Only thing you might have to do is change resistors.
If you still have a hook up, pm me |

Re: Putting the Taylor Dunn on a lithium diet
I kept my eye out locally for the last year or so and got lucky, a guy about 30 miles from me had these wanting to make a ev from a VW dune buggy. Time wasn’t on his side so I bought the lot off him. Honestly, I’m not sure how the cart is going to like being so light in the rear, especially trying to brake when empty. Mine is rear brakes only currently, I plan to make it 4 wheel.

Re: Putting the Taylor Dunn on a lithium diet
I got a pretty good deal, as long as the amp hours pan out. I’m actually pretty tired of “old sparky”, I’m looking at a ‘91 B-248 to steal the controller and other goodies from. If that happens, I’ll stay 36v so I don’t push the smoke from it. I hit a blistering 19 mph on flat running 48v on 20” tires, but it’s got some serious rabbit starts being a resistor cart. Pulling a load was weird/fun, I was either just barely untracking it or pulling the front tires off of the ground. It will be a welcome change to have a little control over the throttle input.
