Will not start

I have a 1992 club car gas engine, was starting fine, wife wanted to take a ride. The cart would not start. I checked the spark plug, no fire, replaced the plug still no fire. Any suggestions.

Check the coil/ignitor!!!

If it's a 1992, it has a separate ignitor, coil, and RPM limiter. As a general rule-of-thumb, when I replace an ignitor or RPM limiter, I also replace its mate (if I replace the ignitor, I also replace the RPM limiter, and visa versa). There is a black box on the front of your engine (RPM limiter), and behind it is the ignitor. Tap on those with the handle of a screwdriver and see if it changes the operation. If not, check with tungpo1 for a new ignitor and RPM limiter.

The reason I replace them both at the same time is that as soon as you replace one or the other, the other will go bad.

Looks like I will have to replace coil, ignitor, tapped on the black box nothing happened.

If you have good judgement with engine RPMs, you can replace the ignitor and coil with a combined unit off a 1996.5+ cart and not replace the RPM limiter at all. It will save you a ton of money if you have good judgement. If you do not, replace the RPM limiter with all the rest.

Not good judgement, only had the cart about month. Better go ahead and replace all. Already ordered the ignitor, ignition coil. Need to order the RPM limiter next.

Who knows, the RPM limiter may be OK. Replace the other items first and if it works, go with it until you do need the limiter. No need in spending extra $$$ if it's not needed.
