slow starter with pedal pressed..
Well, yall will know me by a first name basis before long. My Problem cart ds is hopefully going to be right someday. My problem now is upon pressing the pedal the S/G turns over slowly until it gets to the compression stroke and stops. Like its not getting enough juice. I bought a cheap solenoid. Thought it was that causing the problem so I took it off. I went to club car and got a solenoid from them. Put it on and same thing. Very labored starter when I press the pedal. The kicker is that if I jump the solenoid with a screw driver the starter kicks over like it's brand new. With the pedal it trys but stops quickly, making a "eeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr" noise the whole time. Any ideas? Thanks again everyone.

Re: slow starter with pedal pressed..
I should add. There is no "eeeerrrrrrr" sound when I jump the solenoid.

Okay... to make matters a little worse.. it started turning over good. Now it won't stop. I had to disconnect the battery. It won't stop starting. Lol

Re: slow starter with pedal pressed..
Back again.. I left the battery unplugged for a little bit and we're back to the original problem. Slow starter. The ground wire from the battery is VERY hot. The power wire cool. The terminal on the starter from the solenoid is luke warm. Wouldn't even notice it if it wasn't cool outside. The wire from the solenoid to the starter cool. The ground from the starter to the frame is cool. I did notice that when I push the pedal all the way down then back off a little is gets 3 to 6 good spins then stops every now and then. Hmm?

Re: slow starter with pedal pressed..
One last update for anyone reading tonight. Messed with it some more. Turned over nice and strong and stuck wide open start again. Had to unplug the battery again. Only now it's not going back to normal. I connect the battery and it turns over. I tried turning off the key but it made one of the small wires (white I believe) smoking hot. The starter still turned and only slightly bogged when I turned the key off. Left me at unplugging the battery. Unplugged all the micro switches and the solenoid was stuck "on". It's brand new.. I don't understand what's going on with this thing. I was really hoping to drive it for the first time this weekend so this is very disappointing. Hopefully someone has some ideas. Thanks everyone.

Re: slow starter with pedal pressed..
Hot wire is a ground issue, slow start is a wiring issue or possible a micro switch issue. The best cure for this the easiest IMO. 1) buy all new micro switches $20. 2) Buy new female spade terminals(cart uses 2 sizes normal and the smaller ones are used on the micro switches. 3) Buy at least 4 colors of 14 gauge wire (red and black for sure + 2 other colors), The best and cheapest place for all these supplys is Amazon. Take your time run a power wire from your batter to your switch and then run all your wires from your switch to there respective locations just do 1 wire at a time and you cant go wrong, then you do not have to guess if the issue is wiring, total piece of mind. Make SURE TO REDO EVERY GROUND WIRE. I ran all mine to a single central location on the frame

Re: slow starter with pedal pressed..
You must have a continuous use solenoid for the setup on a club car a normal car solenoid will burn out

Re: slow starter with pedal pressed..
If you are making a key start, first you need a key start switch, let me know I know one that works well
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 2) if using a key start YOU DO NOT NEED ANY MICRO SWITCH"S 3)if using a key start the wiring changes and since you need a solenoid use this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |
