Default Alltrax DCX 400 change from 36 volt to 48

I am looking at replacing my 5 year old battery's .It sound like a good time to upgrade to 48 volts.
I know i need a new solenoid and battery charger.

Do I need new software or will just changing the voltage setting in the programming do it? If so what should the 48 volt settings be ?

98 ezgo txt

Thanks

You shouldn't have to change any setting from the default program setting. But if your over voltage has been lowered you may have to raise it...and you might want the under voltage higher if you are using that feature to tell you when to get off the cart - LOL

Otherwise it's good for 36 - 48v.

You can check on the Alltrax website if there is any updated software for you controller, but it isn't needed to go from 36V to 48V, just tweaking some of the settings might be needed in addition to the 48V battery pack and charger and solenoid you mentioned.

As Scotty mentioned, the original settings ought to be okay.

However, here are the ones to look at.
Under Voltage slider up to 36V (1.5Volts per cell)
Over Voltage slider all the way to the right (Max). IIRC 59.9V is the highest it goes.
You may want to lower the Throttle up Rate a little. (With 33% more torque, the cart might spin the tires if you don't. )
You might want to crank up the the Brake Current some. (Regen braking isn't as strong with a 48V battery pack.)

Other than that, it should be good to go.

What should I expect my top speed to be?

Stock tires .

On the DCS top speed should be 20mph on 36v and theoretically 33% or 6.60 mph higher on 48v. However there are losses which vary cart to cart so we cannot calculate from here what your actual mph will be.
Remember torque also increases proportionally.

I suggest 42v over 48 on stock sepex motors.

More than fast enough to get a speeding ticket on a city street.

You have a 1998 TXT, so it is a DCS, which has more torquem but less speed than a PDS.

With a DCX controller, the top speed is typically in the low 20's at 36V on 18" tires, let's call it 22MPH. Going to 48V ups the speed by about 33%, so about 29MPH would probable be a ballpark estimate.

If you happen to know what the top speed is for your cart at 36V with the DCX installed, just up that speed by 33% and you will have the new top speed at 48V.

----
I agree with Scotty about going to 42V rather than 48V. With stock height tires, you'll be spinning the motor over 6700RPM at 29MPH.

i want to see the speed difference in between 36v and 48v on my dcs cart. i have the DCX500. so from what i read above it is not required to make changes on the controller to tell it 36 to 48? so i can try it both ways, then go in and make other tuning adjustments to the controller?

The default setting for high and low voltage cut off in the Alltrax controller has always been high enough for 48v operation and low enough for 36v operation. You should be good to go
If you need instruction on how to run your 36v solenoid on a 48 volt system go here > http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gener...8v-system.html
