97 CarrryAll 2 coil/ignitor issues
If my problem is with my ignitor (and i think it is) putting a new one in should at the least remove one variable.
It looks like i need to remove the starter, muffler and maybe the engine just to get the cover off to get to the ignitor. This does not look like the easy job it should have been, am i missing something? |

An experienced tech can change one in an hour. Carryalls are a bit easier

Ahhh.... the one and only dreaded shroud bolt! You "may" be able to squeak an open end in there and loosen it a couple turns, The hole in the shroud is slotted... I took all of the engine and engine to transaxle bolts out and twisted the engine in the pan to get the shroud off! (Because the engine pan was in the way when removing the shroud!) |

One %^#$ing bolt away from getting this done. Any tricks to getting a wrench on it would be most grateful.

Sorry... I only know the way that I did it!
Maybe take an old wrench and grind the sides down to fit in that tight slot? |

re: 97 CarrryAll 2 coil/ignitor issues
My cart is somewhat newer, (but the same drivetrain) I removed the shroud to install a timing advance key,
and in the event I had to remove the shroud again, I drilled a hole in the transaxle mount plate to access that stupid bolt! (Not saying you should, you won't have a bolt to worry about!) (click pic to enlarge) 008 (2).JPG I'm not saying this will work for everybody, heck as far as I'm concerned? It probably won't work for me in the future, BUT... at least I know it's there! Good luck! |
