36V EZGO Marathon low voltage at solonoid
I have a mid 90's EZGO 36V Marathon golf cart SN 716297. It is a series system with a Curtis PMC controller model 1204-027. My cart suffered an electrical meltdown. The kids drove it when they said it smelled like it was burning. Here's what I've done.
I rebuilt the F N R switch and throttle assembly with new micros witches. I replaced all of the wiring. Bat, motor and control wiring. Motor checks out OK when jumped to battery voltage Swapped out controller and solenoid with other used ones. The problem Motor is not getting voltage when system is activated. The solenoid clicks and reads 5V lower than pack voltage at the power post. Would this be a bad solenoid or controller? Any ideas as to what and how to diagnose? Thanks |

Re: 36V EZGO Marathon low voltage at solonoid
Sorry this post got overlooked.....
I assume the solenoid still has the pre-charge resistor on it? Assuming that, it would easily read 5v below pack voltage at all times. Best thing to test first is the Solenoid. Remove all the wires/resistor from the large posts of the solenoid. Set your DVM for continuity and place 1 probe on each of the large posts. Activate the solenoid and check for continuity (key on cart in gear, press the accelerator). If there is no continuity, replace the solenoid. |
