36 volt or 48 volt?
I'm looking to purchase a newer golf cart. I have two choices, the first is a 2010 txt thats 36 volt or a 2012 rvx thats 48 volt. Theres a 700.00 price difference. Which way should I go?

Re: 36 volt or 48 volt?
You are looking at a DC and an AC drive cart. AC drive RXV is the new kid, a good neighborhood vehicle but, not exceptionally well suited off the road. The TXT is a platform used for many drive systems... series, pds, txt48.
We will need to know how you wish to use the cart to advise. |

When you say offroad, I'm confused by the meaning. Are you talking through mud, atv trails or across yards. I live in a private dirt road subdivision where I will ride it and it will also be used quite a bit towing my jet ski trailers around the yard and in and out of the garage.

Off road is a term used to describe cart use where terrain may be soft, rough, steep, or all of the above creating a driving condition that requires more torque than on road (paved or dirt) or hard packed surface operation offering less resistance to travel

Ok, by your definition i would definately consider my driving as 90% offroad.

Re: 36 volt or 48 volt?
So you need a cart that produces more torque than speed. It's beneficial to get the right cart going in, instead of trying to make a cart do what is not designed for...
A few more questions and we will know what you need. Do you want a lifted cart with big tires? How many people ride on the cart? Cargo Box or trailer? Is the electrical system 36 or 48 volts? What top speed is desired? Is the used on or off the road? Is the terrain hilly? If yes, steep or mild hills? Is the footing sandy or muddy? |

Ok, i dont care if its lifted or not but it currently is not. Both carts havr 10 wheels with low profile tires. Both have rear seats with upgraded springs. Both carts are set for a max speed of 18. I need it for 800 lb passenger weight. The 18 mph max speed is perfect.. i will use it for slight grade unpaved roads as well as very wet almost muddy at times grass.

Re: 36 volt or 48 volt?
I was asking more what you want the cart to be and do more than what a RXV is - but wet muddy grass with 800 pounds on board is heavy going.
