Default New Engine not picking up

I have installed a new MCi engine in a 1999 EZGO TXT and it will not pick up. It fires on very low revs but as soon as you give it more throttle it dies down. I am definitely getting a spark on both cylinders, the fuel is good, air intake is good, valves are not sticking, timing is ok. I have tried a different coil, ignitor and pick up with no change. I am hoping someone might have changed an engine and come across something similar

Sounds like a carburation issue to me. Have you tried choking it while running? Have you tried some starting fluid or carb cleaner sprayed around the carb to check for any vacuum leaks? Maybe even try spraying just a little into the carb throat while running & see if you can get it to change at all.

Are you using the original pre-mci ignition? It's not compatible with a new mci engine.

I am using the original ignitor, the one with the fly leads off it rather than the newer one which the loom plugs directly in to. If you are sure the ignitor is not compatible I will have to change the loom as well.

I have tried a different carb and checked all pipes, replaced where necessary, and drained the fuel tank and used fresh fuel.

There are many threads on here about which parts will, and won't work. I will see if I can find a good one.

Ok, this guy thought he was installing an MCI engine but wasn't. BrewCityMusic listed the parts that are not the same. He is the guy to talk to about this project. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...gine-swap.html

This guy also lists the different parts, and has a pretty interesting thread. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...y-mci-yes.html
