All of the voltage and current control is done by the OBC.

The timers were designed, and only work properly with, "Ferroresonant" chargers.

Although the old Ferroresonant Lestronic boxes look similar to a Powerdrive2 box, their transformers have an extra winding circuit with a capacitor that tapers the output current as the voltage on the battery pack rises.

Placing a timer on a "Power Supply" will not properly charge the batteries since there is no current control to deliver a slow "absorption" charge once the pack voltage reaches the threshold voltage for the end of the "Bulk" phase of the charging cycle.
I agree with Serg, and to try and guess how long you should charge your batteries is also not a good idea. Doing it right and youll be dollars ahead

Default Re: Power drive 2 charger question

It just happened that tonight is the night I do my monthly equalization charge. The DPI doesn't have an equalization mode so I use my old PD charger with the relay bypassed. Here is what I observed while charging. It started out charging at 15 amps. As the battery voltage increased the current dropped off. After about 2 hrs the current was down to 5 Amps @ 58.5 volts. The voltage continued to increase to 64.5v and the current rose slightly to six amps. After 2 hrs at 64 volts I shut it off. Equalization complete. Of course I've heard a lot of people state that their charger always shuts off at 65 volts which they seem to think is correct.
