The Admiral motor is fine with factory cables if you're running the factory controller. If you upgrade to 400 amps you'll need at least 4 gauge cables with a heavy duty solenoid and a heavy duty F&R switch. You'll need 2 gauge cables, with a heavy duty F&R switch and heavy duty solenoid if you go with a 500 amp controller.

Consider there may not be much more than 500 amps a battery pack can physically put out at any one time. So a 500 amp or 1000 amp controller may be passing the same amount of current especially after the first few seconds of max draw. This much amperage is a direct connection between the motor and the battery pack... just like the resistor coil carts do for the motor at wide open throttle. That's right - resistor coil carts get a direct connection while most solid state carts have restricted access.

I suggest the 500a Alltrax (570 peak) for all series carts with bigger tires and hills.
Very interesting! Only place you lost me is why is the same 500 amp limit not true for a regen system. Can't figure out what the difference is.

BTW,Thanks for taking the time to explain stuff. I don't want to be an expert, but would like to know what the heck I'm doing before I do it.
