Default 89 EZ GO Marathon Gas flooding

My '89 Gas cart ran great when I bought it, but shortly after, it started to run poorly. I found that the plug was gas soaked. I've read several threads about flooding in the crankcase. I rebuilt the fuel pump with all new parts, after replacing the original carburetor with two different new ones. The old diaphragm did not have any holes in it. I've checked the needle & seat/float level many times. I replaced the spark plug. (I am getting spark) I have compression. Every time I try to start it, if it starts, it chugs & dies. When I pull the spark plug, it is fuel soaked. The oil injection has been removed. I drained & cleaned the gas tank & mixed the oil 1.5 oz per gallon. Still having the same problem. I'm a former professional Dealership mechanic & ran my own shop for several years, but I know very little about 2-stroke engines.
Thanks!

Hey, I know where Lima is. My kid went to law school in Ada.

I'm going to assume that you checked both diaphragms in the pump, and you plugged the oil injection hole where the banjo was removed.

I'm thinking compression test first, and then maybe crack open the exhaust to see if it runs any better.

It might even be crankshaft seals. Does it run better in reverse?
