That pulley is part of the clutch. You have to remove the engine, and remove the entire clutch.

That is accomplished by removing the long skinny center bolt from the clutch. You then either pack the hole full of grease, or drop a short piece of brass rod into the hole.

You then thread a 3/4" fine thread bolt into the clutch, and press it off of the crankshaft.

This is what the factory puller looks like, but you don't need it. https://www.cartpartsplus.com/tune-u...1-1988-2-cycle

The easiest thing to do is use a half inch impact driver to pop the clutch off, but if you don't have access you can stuff a piece of rope into the sparkplug hole to keep the engine from turning. You would then use a good sized breaker bar to apply the torque.

And finally...…. If you are replacing the rear seal, you had better be replacing the front seal too.

I always smile at this statement. It makes me picture a novice trying to work out how to tie it to the piston

Even though it is exactly what i do myself to pop clutches off and service valve seals etc

Check the center carefully if you attempt the grease trick. The clutch on my 1988 had a hole from the center into the clutch.

Possibly.. My brother has an 83 with a smaller than 3/4" hole too. We were scrambling to find a bolt, but then noticed it was just a blown head gasket. We ended up not pulling his clutch.

So yes, there are some out there.
