Default 87 Ezgo fuel issue

I'm having problems with my 87 Ezgo. Seems like its running out of fuel. I will take it on the course and it will run great. The next time i take it out it will die. Looks like it loses its prime. The fuel filter will be empty. Let it sit 20 mins and it will fill back up. The engine had been rebuilt, New fuel pump, fuel lines replaced. Running out of ideas. Anyone have any advice.

thank you

Have you replaced the gas cap lately? Make sure it's the vented type if you have, If not make sure the vent isn't blocked with the one you have..... Just a thought

Does this apply to an 88 also? When I remove my gas cap I hear air sucking in.

Create a small remote fuel tank and duct tape to the top support. Run it as a gravity feed. If ok, maybe bad fuel pump, kinked fuel or pulse line, tank improperly vented (unvented).
The small filters will often only show fuel up to the internal filter. They look empty but might not be.
The gravity feed will rule out all over your tank, pickup screen, filter, pump, and lines. Once it quits, go directly from the gravity tank to the carb. If it runs normally again, revisit your fuel system.
Be careful with the fuel line routing and be safe. Plug the factory fuel line if using gravity tank.
The gravity test tank must flow fuel out of the bottom to work.

Absolutely, I recently worked on an 88 (that had other issues too) but during diagnosing I noticed it was sucking air like you say. She had just replaced the cap, So I simply drilled a 1/16" hole in the clear plastic top of the cap. Problem solved

I noticed today the sides of the gas tank bowing in. I’ll drill a hole in the cap and see how that works. Thanks!
