Default Marathon solid state

Ok so I recently acquired a 1990 ezgo marathon it is a solid state system. I am looking the design and have a few plans for paint and such. My biggest question for future upgrades what would be the smartest way of gradually upgrading system and gaining some speed. From what I've read tires sizes help with speed I don't think with it being 36v lifting and going big would be a smart route, will probably kill me on the hold in the park. I was thinking just go with 20in tires and no lift.

That's a good start. Consider going to 48v when it's time for new batteries. It's an expensive jump, but speed and torque will be improved by at least 33%.

I am considering but I'm just learning, I'm guessing to convert to 48v I'd need to replace just about everything lol

Charger, batteries, controller, cables, solenoid. Motor will be fine on 48.
