Default 1992 EZGO 2 stroke fuel system replaced, ran great for 1 min then back to a turd

Hi everyone. I've got this old 2 stroke ezgo marathon I've been playing with and I'm looking for some next steps. For a while it would only run on full choke. Then it finally quit. I replaced the fuel filter, fuel lines, carb, and fuel pump. Stepped on it and it ran like a champ for about 1000ft. Then it lost power and right back to not moving.

Suggestions for what's next?

I had the same problem for the longest time. It takes a lot of messing with them to get them to pump reliably, but once they do, it’s usually great.

Is your pump mounted down on the engine case? I found that a lot of my fuel delivery issues ended up being the cheap Chinese carb.

Aftermarket carbs will do that.

Aftermarket fuel pumps can do that.

Remove the fuel line from the carb and put it in a jar. Step on the gas, is fuel actually pumping? It should fill pretty quickly. If so, take apart the old oem carb, clean it REALLY well and put it back on. Probably help a lot. Make sure you have a nice fat blue spark as well, may be coincidence and have a failing coil or something else unrelated.

If ita not pumping much or any gas, pull the fuel pump off and put your finger over the hole where it mounts. Step on the gas, you should feel a considerable amount of air pumping in and out of that hole. If not, crank seals are shot. If so, make sure the flange where the o ring of the fuel pump sits is clean. May be a bad pump. Can also try taking a length of hose off the inlet side of the pump into a jar of gas and make sure its sucking.
