Default When is it time to replace your secondary/driven clutch

Looking for input on when is it time to send the old clutch down the road. I have a recently acquired 06 G22. The primary clutch is a Team unit which appears to be relatively new and in decent shape. The secondary is OEM and has some wear on it. The sheaves aren’t completely straight, and there is some play in the bushing on the shaft. The ramps and plastic glides on the helix and inner sheave had mated with saw tooth grooves. The cart is a little jerky when taking off as a result. Is it worth replacing the glides and smoothing the ramps, plus putting a new bronze bushing and seals on, or should i just invest the money in a new aftermarket clutch from Golf Cart King and move on?

I vote new, I think you will be much happier in the end. If its grooved like I think it is its done. Also Replace the belt with an OE belt at the very least

Thanks Mike, I was going to replace both belts as they are showing wear as well.
The cheap Scotsman in me always thinks repair, but in this case, I think I’d just be renting short term sub-standard performance.

Maineiac, I'll agree with TheNewGuy as well on what Dave in VA said, Plowman's is the place to go!

I ordered his performance kit for my new to me '87 G2. The kit came with a new muffler, carb jets, Plowman's heavy duty drive belt, and both primary and secondary clutches. I installed my kit piece by piece and drove it after each part was added. First was the muffler, then the primary clutch, then the secondary, then Plowman's belt, and finally the carb jets. The biggest single improvement that I noticed was after installing the secondary clutch with new spring and installing the Plowman's belt. It was incredible how much more power my old worn out cart had after installing the Plowman's clutch. If you call Don this morning, there is a very good chance your new clutch would ship today and you would have it by this weekend.

Call and talk to Don yourself, you won't be disappointed, I promise you!

Edit: Plowman's Carts (810) 736-1100

J, unfortunately the budget isn’t there for a performance kit right now. Maybe down the road.
