Default RXV Kingpin Too Long Slop Fix

I've been working to eliminate noise from the front end of my 2014 RXV. I've seen a few threads that talked about the kingpin being a bit too long and the brass washer not quite taking up all the space. This does cause some noise when hitting bumps. I have seen where some made their own shims or tried to grind down the kingpin. I figured there was a better way and went searching for shims.

Arbor Shims are shims that come in a variety of thickness and are a perfect fix and they are cheap. I found mine on ebay where there are tons of them and the fit perfectly over the kingpin. There are several sizes, for reference the internal diameter of the washer is 25mm, so I just converted to inches to find the right shim.

.025 thickness worked perfect for mine. Pictures explain it all, no more slop.

With Shim

Perfect, no noise, smooth steering.

Yep, I have a "kit" with .010, .020, & .025 shims, every new rxv we sell gets inspection & repair. I get the shims from Grainger.

good to know, thanks!! I just replaced the kingpins/bushings on the lower A-arms. They were really worn BAD and I'll venture to say I had a good 3/8" of play.....feels much better now and tires seem to be tracking correctly.
I'll check these for play too.
