Default MPT1200 replacement valve cover gasket doesn’t fit Robin 350 engine

Have been lurking for a short time but having an issue I cannot find a previous post on.

Have a 07 gas MPT 1200 with a Robin 350 engine. Valve cover was leaking so ordered gasket part number 72876-G01.

Old gasket fit tightly in a square channel, damage original one pulling it out but was definitely rectangular. New gasket is round with tabs on one side of the gasket it is also slightly too large meaning that if I put 2 sides in the channel the other two are 1/4 inch outside the channel.

Trying to get all 4 sides to stay in place is an exercise in frustration. Being the gasket is round and channel square it doesn’t stay in place while trying to wrangle the long sides in.

What am I missing? Is this the wrong part number or am I just doing it wrong?

Numbers
E13*97/68SN4G1*2002/88
Engine Family: 8FJxs.3522GB
Displacment: 352cm
Date Code: D1607
Serial #: *2475023*

Thanks

Should be part number 26719G01 but you should be able to put a little bit of gasket maker on it to hold it in place.

kgsc, if he has the MCI engine he has the right part number.
72876G01
GASKET ROCKER COVER (MCI ENGINES) He said his was a 2007 so unless someone has changed it out then the MCI engine should be in it.
The PRE MCI engine takes the
26719G01

The one in picture is the pre mci . Has the circle at end where the MCI don't have this. I am sure he would have noticed this though.
I have this to happen when putting an aftermarket one on. I tossed it and used the original with silicone

It is a MCI engine, valve cover doesn't look like the one you posted. It was the correct part number.

Was able to get it to stay in long enough by placing the tabs in the groove and pressing the gasket into the cover. Still seems like it is a bit too large for the cover. Have never had a gasket fit like that.

As long it works guess it's all good.

Thanks for your quick replies

Should take some better pictures, not much to look at but it's a worker not a shower. Lifted and added the tires to get around my swampy areas and spillway and clays basket was a must.
