Default Where to start with steering conversion to rack & pinion on Yamaha G14?

My 94 Yamaha G14 has too much play in the steering and I want to convert to a rack & pinion system.

It has a 670cc predator motor in it AND I just had the gear ratio changed so it's fast and WOBBLY! So pretty dangerous.

I found a golf cart mechanic who did the gear ratio switch, so I was thinking I'd have him do the work.

You can see pictures of the cart at this thread https://www.buggiesgonewild.com/showthread.php?t=162005

I'm having trouble finding where to start. I've found a bunch of threads from 7-12 years ago on here that kind of discuss it but don't really give me enough to go on.

I'm seeing the G-22 is supposedly the one to start with, but what else would I need? Or what's the best way to get the steering improved?

I used a TXT 4 bolt steering column and a dune buggy rack and pinion. No matter what you do it's going to require some fabrication.

You couldn't use the existing steering column? That's good to know.

Do you have a link to the rack & pinion you used by chance?

I'm in CA and you can't get street legal gas golf carts anymore, and mine is a very special legal carve out, so it's worth it to dump money into it for me.

When you say "some fabrication", are you talking just about mounting brackets or is it more sophisticated than that?
