Really? I have never been able to find the PN, nor the HP type
I do see motors that have somewhat similar configurations, but mine is listed as a 4/3 HP

It is 4hp on 48v, and 3hp on 36v. And it might mount like this:

There you go Gorno, I found the info on the internet, you need to CALL, you wont find this motor available on-line. I bet the guys on emp can rebuild that motor and make it to fit your needs.

Well great, I had found so many other motor numbers on line, and never saw mine anywhere. I will take my motor into a shop and see what the prognosis is. Glad to hear it's not that rare/odd. Tony

Tony, may I ask what went wrong with your motor? Seems for the pictures one of the post is loose...

Not really sure. I bought the cart not running. The guy said as I was hauling it on the trailer that "it might need brushes". I started with the batteries, and found one with reverse polarity, and two others flat dead. I found one wire that was damaged, and grounding out one of the dead batteries. I was working my way connection by connection until I came to the motor. There I found one of the posts out of position. That connection went to a missing brush, and the terminal on the brush holder looks like it was burned/melted off

My guess. Only a hopeful guess is that the problems with the battery were real. The previous owner instead of starting there, went straight to the motor. There he fiddled with the brush in question, and fried it.

I am not sure of the rest of the motor, armature etc. It did look to me like the armature surface is rougher than it should be. (The surface the brushes run on).

Sooooo, I have a ? on the motor, but some definite damage.

I also have a lot more connections to check, and wires to inspect.

And either 3 batteries, or all 8.

The cart is really nice. It will be worth it to me if I can keep the costs reasonably down.

Tony

you can probably fix that motor yourself, you need to disassemble the whole motor in order to change the brushes, you will be able to find those. For the armature collector you can probably sand-paper it with 240 or 400, that would be enough.
Motion DC motors are really tough and I doubt that motor is bad, you can try to replace the brushes and put everything in order, I would also seize and change the bearing, and then perform a simple motor test with 12v.

Okay, been away for a few years, but now back to this project.

Question, does anyone know what oil goes in the rear axle of this 1995 Cushman UTV Max Model 898670E Electric 48Volt. Thanks!!
