Run 4 to one side of switch then back to wire 1 is the way I understand your diagram. Easiest way is to double lead the number 1 wire.
The meter is simular to the one I have on both carts.

Look at the actual wiring in the very first PDF, (the PDF file from the manufacturer, Chennic,) which shows #1 to constant 48v + and #2 to ground 48v -. It shows the #4 lead to receive 48v+ once the key is on to light the display. His actual drawings are different.

Yes I saw that, the first one is for a controller cart, the second one is for a resister cart, then the drawing posted in the third one is different yet again. I would hook it up as I stated as it would work yet hold the state of charge when key was turned off while the meter would be off.
