99 EZGO DCS No go but beeping
I volunteer my time and materials to my town's athletic association by trying to upkeep their 1999 Dcs cart. Got a call last night that it wasn't moving. I went down this morning to check it out. This is what I found: with the key on the cart will move forward about 5 foot and die. Let off the throttle and step on it again and it starts beeping repeatedly until the run/tow switch is placed in tow position. Turn the switch back to run and it does the same thing. I just printed out the diagnostics page that ScottyB posted in the stickies (Thanks that should be very helpful). But I was wondering if anyone had this problem before and could point me to the problem faster. I'm on a short time frame with no budget and the cart is needed for a tournament this weekend. I would lend them my cart again but the last time I did the KILLED the batteries, Dented a fender and bent the cargo bed. Any help would be great. I'm going back to work for a while but will respond to any posts ASAP. Thanks again

Thanks for the response Tiresmoke. I don't have a lot of experience with this type carts but that was my first guess. One of the guys is going to clean the cart up alittle and I'm gonna try to check it out tomorrow morning. Hoping it's just a bad wire but I have to follow the trouble shooting giude lines to see.

Re: 99 EZGO DCS No go but beeping
I still need some advice with this cart. I didn't get to jump right on diagnosing the problem so a Repair company was called in; The tech couldn't find any definate problems but thoght it was the controller. I went today with the diagnostics print out supplied by ScottyB and ran through the list of checks. One of the tests confused me....It said to disconnect the Battery bl(+) wire (???) and the connector for the run/tow switch then check for continuity between wires 1 and 2 (???)and wires 3 and 4 (???). I couldn't figure this one out so I continued with the rest of the tests. All of the other test checked out fine. I know there is a link out there on testing a controller; Can someone point me too it? thanks for any help.

Re: 99 EZGO DCS No go but beeping
Sounds like they smoked the controller Try this
Controller output test: Hook the red probe to the B+ on the controller and the black probe to the M- on the controller. As you depress the pedal, you should read voltage across those 2 terminals of the controller. Check the power output from the controller by connecting the negative probe to the controller's M terminal and positive to the B+ terminal. Press the accelerator and watch to see if the voltage increases. It should increase from a reading of 0 to the full voltage of the battery. If the motor is not turning, the problem may be in the directional switch or motor. The controller is bad and must be replaced if there is no voltage. |

Re: 99 EZGO DCS No go but beeping
Thanks ScottyB; I'll try that test next. The motor turns but only for a few feet when on the ground. Then you turn the key off and get a contiuous Beep Beep Beep until you turn the run/tow switch to the tow position. Turn the run tow switch back to run, turn the key on and it moves about another 5 five feet and so on. While I had it up on jack stands I ran it about 4 times for about a minute in forward and reverse with no problems. I set it back on the ground and forgot to remove the wheel chocks and as soon as I hit the pedal it stopped. After it stops I don't even hear the soleniod engage till I turn the switch to tow and then to run.

Re: 99 EZGO DCS No go but beeping
Have the same problem with my 99 dcs, I found the solenoid was going bad and finally quit. You could get it going by switching the key on and and then
it quit or would only move a inch. Took a hammer and rapped the solenoid and it started working again, should be getting a new one in the mail today. |
