Stuck in reverse
I have a 2002 gas Ez-Go TXT limo that is now stuck in reverse. I have been searching the forums for ideas to solve the problem but have yet to come up with a clear plan of attack. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Stuck in reverse
Or, disconnect the cable at the rear end and see if you can manually shift it at the trans-axle while rocking the cart forward or back.

Re: Stuck in reverse
I can manually shift gears at the differential and it seems to engage the gears without issue (battery is dead so I won't know for sure until tomorrow).
I have two cables controlling the forward/reverse shifter and they seem loose. No tension in either. |

Re: Stuck in reverse
probably a bad cable or pinched somewhere. you can adjust them, sometimes thats all it takes. you will just have to mess with it to get it right. when you have it in forward you can look back at the rear end where the two cables have the springs on them. the side that has more tension on the spring may need a little more tension or the other side (spring) needs to be loosened a little.
good luck! |

Re: Stuck in reverse
Found the problem.
The two control cables connect to the differential through a bracket. One cable on each side. One side is normal, which I am sure is the one that gets me to reverse. The other side of the bracket is broken. It appears as though the cable pulled through the bracket. My plan is to drill the broken side then place a scream i it to prevent the cable from dislodging again. |

Re: Stuck in reverse
Oh, and now I have discovered an oil leak to deal with. Any suggestions on the most common locations?

Re: Stuck in reverse
wow! so did the cable and springs from the broken side just slide out the side? crazy.... a lot of the oil leaks I have delt with have been the side case gasket. its the side that the fan is on. so usually the gasket leaks and then the fan spreads it everywhere in the engine compartment!
