Thanks Jim! I think even I handle making that one! Probably have that stuff laying around here somewhere. Thanks again!

Re: 85 marathon still won't run
OK guys, I need opinions on this engine rebuild. I was telling my son about my ideas for rebuilding this motor. He's one hell of a mechanic & he thinks I should just get the top end rebuild kit, because he has a buddy with a machine shop that he says can do any work needed to the crank. His idea is to save some money towards a lift kit in the future. I'm sure his buddy knows what he is doing, but there is not that much difference in cost on the total kit & the top end kit. I still need the crank seals & bearings for the crank don't I? I would love to save some $ for the lift kit. What are your thoughts? I'm currently saving my lunch money & allowance, so the wife doesn't know about it. She thinks stuff like house payments & taxes are more important than beer & golf carts. What's up with that???

Re: 85 marathon still won't run
I vote to get the complete kit but that's probably because that's what I did. Seriously how would you feel if you blew out your big end next summer and had to start again? Are you aware that your lift kit is going to cost about $45? I used the same design and it works real well
http://cgi.ebay.com/4-Lift-Kit-EZGO-...item2a0d2ee410 It's good that you have access to a machine shop as you surely will need to press the new bearings onto the crankshaft. Dave |

That's exactly what I was thinking. I think that I will go ahead with the full kit. $45 for a lift. That just blows me away, that's awesome.
