Club Car Goes In Reverse But Not Forward
I’m sure this question has been asked countless times. I’ve spent many hours browsing this forum but still haven’t found the answer.
I have a ‘97 Club Car DS that will go in reverse but will not go forward. Each battery has 8+ volts and the total pack is 51+ volts. When I plug in the charger it clicks on and voltage across the pack raises, therefore I doubt it’s the OBC. I’ve checked continuity thru every wire I can access, including to the solenoid (haven’t been able to pull the cover off the potentiometer yet) and everything checks good. Solenoid clicks on in both forward and reverse. A lot of posts I’ve read reference A2, F1 and other alphanumeric notation. I haven’t been able to find an online source that I can ascertain what these mean. So right now I think I’ve narrowed it down to either a) the solenoid, b) the F/R switch, c) microswitches or d) potentiometer ( I think doubtful). Any help you awesome guys could throw my way would earn you more than one beer if we ever meet in person. |

Re: Club Car Goes In Reverse But Not Forward
You can safely rule out the solenoid and potentiometer. You mention the A2,F2 connections, is this a upgraded IQ DS Club Car? BTW they are your motor connections. Look at your motor and see if they are labeled F1 or S1

Re: Club Car Goes In Reverse But Not Forward
S1/S2 is Series as WM6 was stating.
A1/A2 is the Armature F1/F2 is the Field and for Sepex or Regen carts. If you solenoid is closing in Fwd and Rev, then it is not the problem. If the Potentiometer is working in Fwd, it will work in Rev. It definitely could be your FnR switch or a MS. What type of cart do you have? Series or Regen 1? (Does it have a FnR switch or a Fwd/Rev rocker switch?) What is the serial # |

Re: Club Car Goes In Reverse But Not Forward
In a series cart the primary suspect would be the F&R device.
#1 check the F&R micro switches are all working properly with a multi meter #2 if the little switches are all good the rotary contacts inside the switch may have failed. |

Yep, that is a Series cart and everything scottyb said is the things to try. I have even found the cable terminals fried at the switch. But you will find it after trying the above.
Here is an electrical diagram |

Re: Club Car Goes In Reverse But Not Forward
Hook the black probe to the main Neg or there should be a Neg terminal block below it and to the left at the drivers side. Then take the red probe on your DVM (be set to direct current) and probe them. When you engage the FNR, listen and feel them for the click. Each one has an internal mechanical switch that should make a "click" noise.
Here is a pic of them that scottyb supplied... http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...tml#post890827 |
