Default Small mph drop

Okay so,8 6volt batteries, 2awg through out and 0awg between batteries, 25in tires, d&d high torque, 700amp controller, 400amp solenoid..

i really have to drive this thing to drain the batteries, went 12.8 miles the other night and after sitting for 15 mins it was at about 50.5..

I have recently noticed it has dropped about 1mph flat out and sits about 19ish instead of 20.
Call me petty but i noticed it

i have taken the battery set down to about 49.4 before but should i take it further down and get a good solid charge on it?

Will this make any difference.. I've had these batteries since the middle of April and haven't even had to add any water to them so i'm getting a little curious

That will not increase the voltage. Where ever your chargers' cut off is, it is. And after 12.8 miles, you will get a significant charge for sure....

Check your pack voltage the next time you charge it as voltage is relative to speed (as is excess weight.)

well my charger unfortunetly never cuts off because i believe a relay has gone bad or its been bypassed

The charger usually reaches about 62.5 volts when i decide to cut it off and the amp readying on it is just at about 5 amps.. once it has rested for 12 hours its at 52.1 volts

Then like i said after a 12 mile trip and sitting for 15 minutes its at 50.5 which is 92%? correct?

i feel like im not discharging the batteries enough or is that just rubbish?

What charger are You using?

You cannot charge lead acid batteries to 100% just using "bulk charge", which is "wide open".

The charger needs to start tapering the current once it reaches a pre-set voltage value, around 54v, it then slowly climbs to the cutoff voltage (60v+) at a lower pace since the chemical reactions are slower at that time (less active material to react).

This is the charger.. after a ride it will start at like 54v and 37amps and as it progresses the voltage goes up and the amps go down .. i have a trickle charger
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
that i purchased and ive used it like once but i dont believe its effective granted idk how long it needs to be on

Does it infact matter how much i drive it then charge or no?

Not much if at all! Lead acid batteries are not like the old fashioned NiCd batteries that developed memory problems. Arguably, lead acid batteries prefer to be discharged little, and topped up lots. If you have a low amp maintainer - put it on after removing your big charger. Your batteries "will like it".

Your 8 six volt batteries will improve your range just like 4 twelve volt batteries will decrease your range.

Waltmerm6 yah the ranger is great just wasnt sure if I needed to draw them down more because of the memory issue like Joesam said

So at this point I should be fine .. I really need to invest in a new charger cause this thing sounds like a **** transformer and I get tired of watching it ..
