Default common problems with precedent club cars?

We were just wondering if there are any common problems with the precedent club car. We just bought an electric 2004 2 seater. We were looking at a gas one also. We heard rumors that they have mechanical problems and they are expensive to fix. Is any of this true? We do not know anybody that has one. Any insight would be great!

Thanks

I have heard, and the key word here is heard that the 2004 Precedents had some issues... What they are I can't tell you with the exception that my Club Car Dealer felt the front ends didn't hold up as well as the DS's, if they hit something. But that was true of all Precedents. With a lift kit like an "AllSports", (free plug for DirtySouth,) that problem would no longer be a factor. I also know that there are differences between a 2004 and 2005-2006 Precedents as well. Do you plan on doing anything to your cart like a controller, 4 ga wires, motor upgrade, etc.? If so then it shouldn't matter that much anyway.

$260.00 to $325.00 for a 6" kit pending where you get it
I highly recommend a Jake's or an Allsports Kit

Click on the sponsors here and give them a call. I would strongly recommend the AllSports lift, simply for the design difference if nothing else.

Cool Re: common problems with precedent club cars?

I Have Been Told That Suspenion Parts Wear Out Sooner But Have Not Seen It Yet. Fixed A Wrecked One Awhile Back And Was A Lot More Simpler Than A Ds Car ,i Was Impressed And Front End Alignment Was Easier.

My Club Car dealer where I bought my 2004 Precedent told me there was a recall a few years back. He said the on board computer was replaced and the four 12 volt batteries were replaced. My cart has the 2007 batteries from that recall installed. I feel the cart is good and runs out nice. The steering is responsive and with the 19.5 speed program installed, it hauls pretty good for a stock cart.

The early (2004-2006) Precedents had a computer progamming problem where the computer software prematurely turned the charger off before the batteries were fully charged. If your 2004 has not been upgraded to software version 3.5, you may have charging problems.
