Default Lost wire

I was given a 1996 48 volt (6 @ 8v Trogen) cart. The batteries need replacing but it's not too bad overall. When I picked it it did move, Ok forward, slow in reverse. I took it home and had to push it off the trailer, been dead since. What I did find was a red wire with a white strip hanging loose at one end. the wire starts at (connected) the forward / reverse lever. It is on the top center of the 3 micro switches, from there it goes to the back near the motor and the 4" x 6" x 2" (approx) box that's mounted back there to. This is where the red/wht wire is hanging loose. It has a lug connector not a spade type. I don't want to hook it up wrong and cook something else.....any help with this lost wire.

I did pull out the wiring diagram here but I can't blow it up enough to read it.

Try downloading the diagram to your computer then blowing it up. It looks like the red/white wire goes to the controller B- connection. this would provide Neg current to micro to switch the solenoid or such? I didn't study it any more than I needed to answer the orig Question..... download and print

Scottyb, thanks for the quick reply. I downloaded the wiring diagram from the "sticky" here and cannot read it when I blow it up.

The controller is the box above the motor, correct? and can you label or describe which connector is the B connection. I did not pull the controller out to see if the connection points are labeled.
