LOL. I just connected it straight to the battery. Quick and easy. I'll disconnect it when I'm not using the cart of course.

OK, you could install a toggle switch inline instead of disconnecting it.
BTW, where did the instructions say to wire it? |

At the key switch and to the 1st positive battery and the last negative battery.
