Controller upgrade question

Hey guys,
Just finished starting another thread about my 36 to 48v conversion with a PQ. I asked PQ about running a higher gear ratio rear end in the future and I was told I would need to upgrade to a 400 amp controller, and that the controller would also bring back some of the low end I lost when upgrading to the larger tires. I hear Alltrax mentioned a lot around here and it seems they are the brand to go with. I did a search on one of the parts websites and found a few different 400amp controlleres. Can anyone set me straight about programmable vs non-programmable

Im not looking to get absolutely out of hand with this thing and Im not sure what exactly one is able to program the controller to do. Will the 400amp non-programmable (NPX4844/5K-0) work fine for what I am trying to do? Will I see a drastic difference in torque and acceleration with this? Thanks for any help in advance, still trying to learn up on these things

If your goal is to increase torque while maintaining your top end, a high amp controller is what you want, assuming your cables have been upgraded. 400a is sufficient, unless you see bigger tires or high speed gears in your future, then consider a 600a unit. What is your goal for the cart?

I would eventually like to go with a higher ratio rear end for a little more top end. We dont have much for hills to climb down here so an extreme low end isnt really necessary. Plum Quick told me I would need a 400 to do the rear end.

If your 48v upgrade is completed, which controller are you running now?

The stock curtis one. I was given a complete 48v wiring harness with the pot, controller, solenoid, ect.

Thanks for the replies. So a 400 amp controller wouldnt be ample for a high speed rear end?

I'd go at least 450 or 500 , just so U won't to get stuck with too little,
and get disappointed later !
Make sure U upgrade all #6 to #4 welding cables !!!

Alright thanks, is it worth spending extra to get a programmable controller?
