Re: Charger Will Not Shut Off
Welcome to BGW
What is the total pack voltage reading of your cart? Should be around 50.9v. What is the individual voltage reading of each battery? 8v batteries should be about 8.48v. How long does your charger run before you say it won't turn off? If the charger runs for more than 12 hours you may have a battery problem. Have you checked the water level? How old are the batteries? |

Re: Charger Will Not Shut Off
2 things to check. Do you have a friend that also has a 48 volt Club Car? If so, try his charger on your cart / your charger on his cart and see whet happens...
It's either a charger relay issue / OBC. Or a battery with a bad cell... |

Re: Charger Will Not Shut Off
I had the same problem on my charger. I took it to the local battery shop where they test them and they said that the timer board was bad in it (I didn't even know they had a timer board in it). They took a used timer board out of another charger and put it in mine for less than $100. So far, seems to shut off after it charges up. Good luck!

Re: Charger Will Not Shut Off
I'm not exactly sure. I don't know anything about how the chargers work or whats inside. I was just going off what the guy told me. It seemed to have fixed the problem with mine as it now shuts off after it's charged.

Re: Charger Will Not Shut Off
THe Baum--QUESTION what charger do you have and how long did you leave it running after it dropped to 3 amps? If at any time you unhooked the charger during charging cycle the OBC will start all over with a charge and then a ( Desulf ) cycle that take some time to finish and will run at high and low amps. It sounds like you have a auto charger rather than a timed unit? NEED more info as there are so many chargers out there. If its proper Club Car charger its most likely a bad battery or batterys.
You need to check each cell with a HYDROMETER with temperature correction ( these are single float units with temp unit on side NOT MULTY BALL ANTIFREEZE UNITS ) Then post the readings so we can check for bad cells. Most often in Club Car we find numbers 5 and 6 batterys are bad before any others in pack? 5 and 6 are the ones under the driver behind. |
