You stated that you had a 8" lift on your cart and this "CAN" causes the brake cables to be too short and requires a extension kit available from sponsors to correct problem? Just a thought?

got the extension plate on it and new brake cables could axle be bent and causing problem?

Did you have this problem BEFORE doing brake job or just since? If it was before did you have rumbling noise coming from rear? That could mean a bad bearing or less likely a bent axle. You said you replaced drum on that side, and did you clean it with brake cleaner inside before installing? The coating to keep drum from rusting will cause shoe to stick to drum some times? Also was the backing plate where side of shoes hits grooved, as this will cause shoe to stay extended even though you lubed it good? If not too deep you could file them smooth and relub to stop problem.
If all checks good Im guessing you could have a out of round after market drum possibly? Was this a factory drum or after market unit?

factory drum from reputable dealer . so the back of the shoes could be hanging up and not releasing properly is what your saying? the problem before i replaced brakes was i had no brakes at all due to drums full of mud and gunk and the adjusters rusted. how to check for bad bearing?

You would know if you had a bad bearing as there would most likely have a grinding noise coming from the drum area on that side. A check is to remove drum and see how much UP AND DOWN MOTION you get from axle, some is normal along with in and out motion. If in doubt about noise jack cart rear wheels up and set axle on good solid stands, block front wheels so no motion is possible and then have someone operate pedal and take a ruler and place it against the spring side of backing plate to the base of your ear and check for grinding noise. Be careful as you have almost 950-1000 lbs over your head. If in doubt dont do it and take to dealer to confirm problem.
Note dont be surprised if only one wheel moves at a time as this is normal.

have them and will see if it works did not think of that one but they are pretty badly scarred.can these be turned like a car drum and are there any specs on how far it can go?

I don't think there are any specs .... it's a golf cart I just wanted to see if the old drum has the same problem, then it is a shoe or shoe install problem. If the old drum doesn't have a problem then it is a drum problem?
