1999 DCS Alltrax DCX controller and 250 solenoid
Hello. I am new here. I have 99 ezgo and have changed stock controller to a Alltrax DCX 400 controller and 250 amp solenoid. I had a problem with the controller and sent it back to Alltrax, was found defective and am waiting for a warranty replacement. I took some pics before sending defective controller.
Before I mount and wire up the replacement, I've attached some pics of the wiring that I did and am hoping someone can look them over and let me know if: 1. it's okay to mount the controller with LED light on top (which makes the controller mounted upside down ? 2. have i mounted the solenoid correctly or is it mounted upside down and i should correct this ? 3. if solenoid is okay with the way its pictured, are my wiring correct. I don't want to screw up or destroy the new one. A short note on why i changed from stock to alltrax controller...Cart would move but after a while, it just stopped moving. F/R microswitches were tested and found to be good. Ordered and installed alltrax..cart ran for 2 weeks then it just wouldn't go fwd or reverse. Thanks in advance |

I think I see the diode and resistor? Yes? The solenoid is upside down. The controller is okay

Re: 1999 DCS Alltrax DCX controller and 250 solenoid
Thanks for your reply. Yes I have diode and resistor. I'll correct and flip the solenoid and wire up as pictured but does it make a difference..ie will it cause damage in the long run cuz it's upside down?
Qestion: 1. Is the solenoid directional (Positive vs negative) how can i tell when reading the label affixed to solenoid ? Thanks again |

Re: 1999 DCS Alltrax DCX controller and 250 solenoid
A quick overview of the solenoid is :
The solenoid is a HD on/off switch or Contactor the connection is made /broken between the 2 large terminals. The 2 small terminals are the activation circuit. typically one terminal will have a constant negative connection to the pack. When Positive power is applied to the second terminal the contact is drawn up against the spring to make contact. When power from either side of the activation circuit is removed then contact is released and the spring pushes it away interrupting the circuit ...It doesn't matter which terminal is neg or pos. It may not hurt the solenoid to run in any position but, typically we see them right side up |
