Brake light stays on???
Sorry if this has been covered already, but I've done some searching and can't find the answer...I've got an 05 EZ Go TXT that has a full light kit, including brake lights. This kit was put in a few years ago and has been working fine. However, last week, I noticed that my brake lights no longer turn off when the brake pedal is released. Up until the, they functioned properly. They came on when you hit the brake pedal, but would turn off when the emergency brake was depressed. Now, they're on all the time. I had to disconnect one of the connectors on the micro switch behind the pedal to shut them off, so now I have no brake lights. If the micro switch is bad, would the lights stay on, or not come on at all? There's no obvious damage to the switch or wiring. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Brake light stays on???
A good micro switch will give an audible click when it operates. Check to see that it is adjusted correctly... it slides in it's mounting to adjust and that the peddle is actuating it properly.. You can test the switch with a simple continuity test on your multi-meter

Thanks. I'll give it a look this evening to make sure it's adjusted properly.

Re: Brake light stays on???
More than likely the micro switch is OK, but the stupid system ezgo uses to make the light turn off is having problems. The springs and rubber bushings behind the main brake pedal are more than like broken or gone, and is no longer pushing the pedal pad back far enough to turn the micro off.
Its very common issue |

Re: Brake light stays on???
Fixerofcarts, that was exactly the problem. I started poking around the switch last night and realized that the switch wasn't clicking at all. When I pried on the pedal a bit, the light would click off. I pulled a bit harder, and the spring kinda popped loose from the bushing and reseated, and now the whole thing works fine again. Apparently, I pushed too hard on the brake at one point or something and the spring jammed into the bushing, preventing the pedal from releasing all the way.

Re: Brake light stays on???
Check those springs real close, they maybe broke. If you catch it early enough, you can just install new springs and be good to go again. If you wait, you start to waste all the bushings and spacers that are in there.
