Successfully installed Excel controller on IQ Car
If anybody ever needs to know how to install an Excel Controller (1515) onto a car equipped with IQ (1510) wiring, just let me know. It's EASY!

Re: Successfully installed Excel controller on IQ Car
i would like to know! i haven't seen too many new IQ carts around. I was talking to our club car sales rep and he told me he doesn't sell IQ cars to courses anymore? hmm.

Cut the black/whire wire located in Pin 13 of the controller 16 pin plug approximately 2" from the plug housing Attach black/white wire to purple/white wire located in Pin 3. Use 3M Scotchlok or equivalent connector. Install resistors in all three wires of the the 3 pin connector at the MCOR. The Excel car requires 451 ohm resistors, the IQ car requires none. 451 ohm resistors will be hard to find but Club Car tells me that a 460-470 ohm resistor from Radio Shack will work just as good. I actually had an old Excel harness to rob them from so I used the 451 ohm resistors. Send me your email address and I'll send you the documentation that they sent me. |

Re: Successfully installed Excel controller on IQ Car
im not sure what the purple & black/white wires you are cutting and tapping go to (V+ IN to the mcor i would presume) but anywho, in case you were wondering what the resistors actually do to the circuit, heres a graph to help visualize:
with a 48V input on the stock MCOR you get a 0 to 48V sweep when actuating the pedal. after adding the resistors, the sweep becomes 0 to 40V. again, i don't what the voltages actually are, but thats the effect from adding the series resistors to the MCOR regardless. just thought you might be interested.... -sj Last edited by sonicj; 12-13-2011 at 08:39 PM.. I agree with you 100% It functions almost identical to the IQ Plus system. |

Re: Successfully installed Excel controller on IQ Car
David, I'd like to do the opposite. Put a 1510 in an Excel cart. I installed a PlumQuick Bandit and Rob at PlumQuick says the Excel 1515 is not compatible with the motor. Can you help?
