Question about motor coils
Got to thinking today and came up with a question for the wise men on this forum. If a person were to disable reverse in a golf cart motor (remove reverse cables from the motor) and wire both coils in the electric motor to forward, what would happen? Would speed be enhanced? Would torque be enhanced or would it simply destroy the motor? I realize there would be no reverse but would this work?

Re: Question about motor coils
That's not how it works. The Field coil and the Armature coil are not the same. Reversing the direction of the current in either of them reverses the direction that the motor will turn.

2 followup questions please, is this diagram applicable for 48V motor as well?
Can I test a motor by applying power directly to A1 (F) or A2 (R) ?? |
